Enhancing Your Creativity Developing excellence

Hi, I'm John Bellanti, D.Ed., PCC. Welcome to Coaching through the Crossroads
I coach people how to maximize their gifts, increase their momentum for change, and discover ways to maximize the use of their positive energy.

Having been a psychologist in private practice and a life coach for over thirty years,
I found that approximately eighty-five percent of my clients were not suffering from a "mental illness." They were using strategies that once worked for them but were no longer working. I am on the faculty of the Institute for Life Coach Training founded by Dr. Patrick Williams.  Patrick Williams and Deborah C. Davis are the authors of
Therapist as Life Coach: Transforming Your Pactice
.

During my early childhood with both parents working (an immigrant Italian father, and first generation mother) my two sisters and I had women from the PWA (Public Works Administration) caring for us. These women were multi-ethnic, multi-racial, and multi-tolerant. They taught me that there were greater differences within each group than there is between them. This powerful lesson to value an individual for his/her unique gifts became the cornerstone for my interactions with others. They taught by their examples that we learn best from those we love and those who are very different. These beliefs became the keystone for my coaching practice.

During my sixties I took up hang gliding for the first time. As I caught the wind in my sail and felt lifted to greater heights I discovered the following: First, you're never too old to learn or try something new. Second, life coaching is like hang gliding. The client takes the leap, the client determines how high and how far he/she will go. The coach guides and supports the client's journey. Working in tandem the client can go higher than he/she has gone before.

Although I do not believe that all are ready for coaching, I do believe that all individuals are coachable. The key is finding the best coach for you, one who assists you in discovering the pursuit of excellence not the pursuit of perfection which will stop you in your tracks. My friend and colleague, Sandy Macdonald had a word for that stoppage. He called it ‘stuckified.’

I work best with professional persons, couples, and groups who
